A minimal treatment can make a major difference to how you feel about yourself. Simple, pain-free removal of skin tags, moles, cysts and other unwanted lumps and bumps.

If you have an irritating or embarrassing growth on your skin, we can remove it with a quick and straightforward treatment.

What does minor cosmetic surgery mean?
Minor cosmetic surgery at The Temple Clinic is the simple, safe removal of a number of different types of small growths, known as lesions, which lie on or just below the surface of the skin.

You might want your lesion removed because it irritates you - for example, it gets caught up in your clothing or jewellery - or because you simply don't like the way it looks.

Whatever your reasons for wanting to get rid of it, minor surgery is quick, effective and virtually pain free.

The types of lesions which we can remove include:

... and many other conditions.

We use two different types of minor surgery procedure. The first is simple excision, which means removing the
lesion from the skin by gently cutting it out. The second method uses high-frequency radio waves. Whatever the most appropriate technique is, we'll explain it to you fully during your consultation.

What should I expect?
You'll have an initial free consultation, when we'll look at the skin condition (or conditions) which are troubling you and discuss the best treatment for you. This lasts around 15 minutes.

The procedure itself requires a local anaesthetic. It usually takes around 30 minutes but can last as little as 15 minutes, depending upon the type of treatment and size, type and number of lesions. You can usually treat several lesions in one appointment, if appropriate.

We will put a dressing on your treated area, to speed healing and prevent infection, and we'll give you another dressing to take home.
We'll give you written information on what to do following your treatment, but apart from a few simple things to avoid, minor surgery won't affect your daily routine.

Does it hurt?
You will feel a sensation like a pin-prick as we give you the local anaesthetic, but after that you won't be able to feel the treatment. As the anaesthetic wears off, you may feel a little discomfort or a slight stinging sensation, but actual pain is extremely rare.

What happens afterwards?
We'll ask you to come back for a follow-up appointment to make sure your skin is healing and that any stitches you've had have dissolved. If appropriate, we send a small piece of the removed tissue for analysis, and any results will be explained to you during this appointment.

Will I have a scar?
If we can treat your condition with radio wave surgery, there's usually only a minimal scar once the area has healed. Removal of the lesion simply leaves a flat, non-bleeding surface which is no bigger than the surface area of the original lesion. If the treatment has involved an incision, you will have a small linear scar which will fade over time.

Is it safe?
Minor surgery is completely safe at The Temple Clinic. Our surgeons are qualified doctors and are widely experienced in lesion removal.

How much does it cost?
The cost of treatment depends upon the number and types of lesions you want to have removed, but we will talk about this during your consultation.
